High School Swimming and Me
“At the age of seven, I began to dedicate the greater portion of my free time to the most unforgiving sport of swimming. I say “unforgiving” because one one-hundredth of a second can differentiate 1st from 2nd place, and a week out of the pool will certainly affect performance in the next race. Most mornings I woke up before five o’clock for practice before school. Immediately after school, I attended a tiresome practice. At the end of each day, a few hours were spared to complete my homework and other responsibilities. Swimming has definitely taught me lessons of time management and discipline in the pool and in the classroom.”
