Campos Memorial Fund
February 2, 2010 Thank you so much for the generous support recently provided for the Campos family. Your kindness has raised over $30,000 to honor the memory of Karla Campos and to assist the family! In response to recent questions regarding the Karla Campos Memorial Fund managed by the Cobb Schools Foundation, we would like to let you know that we are dedicated to assisting the Campos Family during their time of need. On February 2, 2010 a press conference was help with Mr. and Mrs. Campos, the Campos family attorney, Sheri Brante, Executive Director, Cobb Schools Foundation, Angela Huff, principal, Mt View Elementary and members of the Foundation board of directors. As you may know, the Campos Family came to the school asking for help, because they didn’t know where else to turn. The school in turn, asked the Cobb Schools Foundation to assist in organizing and managing efforts to assist the family. The Foundation and other representatives from the school district have met with members of the Campos family twice. The Foundation has honored every request made and paid every bill presented by the Campos family. At this time, more than $7,800 has been paid out in expenses for the family, including monthly bills and a permanent marker at the gravesite selected by the family. On January 19, the Campos family decided to manage the remaining funds. At this time, Sheri Brante, Executive Director, asked the family to put in writing how they would like the remaining funds to be paid out to them. Upon receipt of this documentation, funds will be released in accordance to their wishes. Thank you for the kindness you have shown the Campos family and your generosity. The Cobb Schools Foundation is a separate 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, rewarding and enhancing the schools, staff and students of the Cobb County School District.
