About the Foundation

Our History

Founded in 1999, the Cobb Schools Foundation was established by a group of Cobb community and business leaders for the sole purpose of seeking funding for the betterment of the Cobb County School District. An initial grant of $1,000,000 from Cobb Energy helped to establish the foundation. These funds were used to pay off athletic stadium debt at Pope and Harrison High Schools, and to build the home side of the stadiums at newly built Kennesaw Mountain and Kell High Schools. The Foundation is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees separate from the Cobb County School District.

Scope of Giving

The Foundation’s geographic scope of giving is limited to Cobb County School District located in Cobb County, Georgia. The Foundation funds educational programs, student scholarships, employee recognition, student athletics and other initiatives in line with the mission of Cobb County School District.

Foundation Funding

The Foundation is supported entirely by the generous contributions from individuals, businesses and granting organizations. The Foundation also hosts fund-raising events annually that help to provide funding for Foundation programs.

Cobb Schools Foundation Makes A Difference…

In Our Students

Each year, the Foundation awards over $30,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. The Foundation supports high schools juniors with test preparations for the SATs through Project 2400. Cobb Schools Foundation provides scholarships to children in need for ASP fees so that they will have a safe and secure place to go after school.

In Our Teachers

The Foundation supports the world-class teachers of the Cobb County school district by awarding IMPACT Grants each year to enable funding for new, innovative programs that would otherwise go unfunded by the school district. The Foundation is the sponsor and host of the annual Classified Employee of the Year recognition program and luncheon honoring our hard-working employees throughout the school district.

In Our Schools

Cobb Schools Foundation gives back to every school in the district that participates in the annual GIMME 5 for Education fundraising campaign. The Foundation supports and manages funds for the foundations of local schools within the district, allowing them to fund raise for their individual schools without the constraints of other school fundraising organizations.

In Our Community

Cobb Schools Foundation is committed to partnering with community members and local businesses to enhance the educational experience in Cobb County. The Foundation honors the community volunteers by hosting an annual Volunteer of the Year recognition luncheon. Our volunteers are a crucial part of the Cobb school district and we take pride in honoring those who go above and beyond for the betterment of our community.
