This summer, the Cobb Schools Foundation has partnered with the Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department and the Cobb County Public Library System to offer the 6th Annual PIG TALES Writing Competition, presented by SCANA Energy.
Students in grades K-8 attending any public, private, or home school in Cobb County are invited to write a short story or essay, in 750 words or less, incorporating the theme “music.” Work can be fiction or non-fiction. Participants are limited to one entry.
Students could tell a story about a favorite song or musician, express feelings certain kinds of music produce, describe a musical instrument, or share a magical musical experience, and more. Entries may be typed or handwritten and must be postmarked (or sent via interoffice mail) by August 13.
First, second, and third place winners will be chosen among students rising into three grade categories: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8. Entries will be judged on creativity, presentation, and correspondence to the theme.
Winners will be announced online no later than August 22. Prizes will be awarded at the City of Kennesaw’s Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival on August 25 and include tickets to area attractions, t-shirts, and goodie bags. The first place winner in each category will be awarded a bicycle.

Along with SCANA Energy, we’d like to thank you for your continued support!
